Goodies for the kids

I try and make it a goal to grab something for my kids when I am traveling. My dad did this for me growing up, and I like to think that my kids will remember my heart when they are older. It's just frootloops today, but when I get home the first thing they will ask me is, "what did you bring for me daddy?"

Like I said, it's just frootloops, but What are some of the things you want your kids to remember about you?

Here r some ideas I have about Social Media and Church Software working together

A couple days ago I saw Jennifer Schuchmann post a question on Twitter. This what I saw.

After a couple reply’s back and forth it got me thinking. Then I had this thought, what could Church Software look like if we utilized Social Media in the same way we do with church software today? Talk to me about that! Here are a couple ideas I had each under a 140 characters. Let me know what you think.

idea #1: run a query on all ppl that gave the church $ last week & DM or facebook them w/ a thank U.

idea #2: mark Church attendance by having a church attendees tweet to a particular hashtags. etc. "hanging out at #smallgroup"

idea #3: 4 every event registration or prayer request, let me as a user post a reply to that event 2 twitter or facebook

idea #4: Empower small group leaders to view & manage their groups using social media timelines

idea #5: History trails R everything. Let an Admin C timelines of recent reply's & run reports based on words in those reply's

idea #6: Tweet a Bible verse or short 140 character devotional similar to Newsletters using Bit.ly to track clicks

Idea#7: let me use my Smartphone to monitor attendance and open/close rooms, even print reprint labels

What do you think. Would some of these ideas help you out?

Couple thoughts from @davewillis's message yesterday

What am I building my life on?
Is it fastened to God or am I totally focused on me and me alone?

Couple ways to remain God focused instead of self-focused.

1. Choose wisdom...
Prov 9:10
http://read.ly/Prov9.10.niv

It's challenging to think, am I the same person I was 5 years ago. Is my understanding of who God is and what He has in store for me the same then as it is now? Have I really changed?

2. Seek wisdom
Jeremiah 29:13
http://read.ly/Jer29.13.niv

This is total action! I have to be careful that I don't try and find wisdom for my life in man. It is so easy to put ally focus in things like Facebook and Twitter. Days can go by, and before I know it I get so caught up in the details of other peoples lives and I miss out on what the creator of the universe has for mine.

3. Give wisdom
Matthew 10:8
http://read.ly/Matt10.8.niv

This part is totally convicting. What am I doing for others that doesn't bring glory to myself?

Sorry for the brevity and rampant spelling errors... This was obviously "sent from my iPhone".
